Sheriff’s Boating Safety Unit and Dive Team continue to search for ski boat accident young victim

On Friday, July 7, 2017, the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office Boating Safety Unit and Dive Team continued the search on Lake Shasta in front of Digger Bay for a missing 12-year-old male hit by a ski boat on Monday, July 3, 2017.  The Sheriff’s Office was joined today by the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team.  The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office used their sonar unit towed behind their boat.  The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office continued to use the ROV and sonar equipment during the underwater search.  The area searched reached depths over 200 feet.  The search teams were unable to locate the victim.

The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office will continue searching over the weekend in and around Digger Bay for the victim.

The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance today and citizens who are recreating on Lake Shasta and staying out of the area during search operations.
