Redding man arrested for attempting to carjack Palo Cedro victim with knife

On Sunday, November 13th, 2016 at approximately 6:19 a.m., deputies from the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division and City of Shasta Lake Division responded to a residence located in the 21000 block of Kiwi Lane in Palo Cedro, CA on a report of an attempt carjacking and brandishing of a knife. Upon arrival, deputies learned the suspect had left the location on foot.  During the investigation, the suspect was identified as Dylan Joseph Duclos, age 25 from Redding, CA. 

During the investigation, deputies learned the victim had been parked in a driveway on Kiwi Lane, when Duclos approached the vehicle and demanded the victim’s vehicle. Investigation revealed Duclos held a knife to the victim’s throat at one point, but the victim was able to drive away without further incident.

Deputies searched the area with negative results.  Duclos was found to be on felony probation out of Shasta County for car theft. A stop and arrest BOLO was issued on Duclos for the listed charges.

On Monday, November 14th, 2016 at approximately 11:07 p.m. deputies received information Duclos was possibly at a residence located off Trefoil Lane in Cottonwood, CA.

On Tuesday, November 15th, at approximately  1:08  a.m., deputies located Duclos inside a trailer on Trefoil Lane and took him into custody without incident. 

During the investigation, deputies located stolen property in Duclos’ possession.  The stolen items were found to be from a recent burglary from a residence located in the 20000 block of Old Hwy. 44 in Palo Cedro, CA that had been reported on Monday, November 14th, 2016.

Duclos was transported to the Shasta County Jail and booked for 664/215 PC- Attempt Carjacking, 422 PC- Terrorist Threats, 417(a)(1) PC- brandishing and 496(A) PC- possession of stolen property.
