On July 11, 2017, at 4:50 p.m., Stacy Jacobsen, 49 years of Redding, was on a test drive in a 2012 red convertible Ford Shelby Mustang with a salesperson from Crown Motors. Sometime during the test drive in the downtown area, the salesperson stepped from the vehicle and Jacobsen sped away in the Mustang. Redding Police officers canvassed the area for the vehicle and allied law enforcement agencies were advised of what had occurred. Within about 15 minutes of the reported theft, Anderson Police located the stolen Ford Shelby Mustang in the area of Spring Gulch Road and Missouri Lane. Jacobsen was taken into custody without incident and the vehicle was found to be undamaged.
Further investigation revealed that Jacobsen had driven a previously reported stolen vehicle to Crown Motors and parked it there prior to going on the test drive in the Ford Shelby Mustang. She was booked into the Shasta County Jail on multiple charges of motor vehicle theft.
